Falmouth, interviews and saying goodbye

Thu Apr 15, 2004, 2:05 PM
Well I cant really believe it, two years and I have only five weeks left and then everyone is leaving and everything has to be finished.

Its really scary how quickly 2 years can go, but when I look back I have only have good memories, and I have made some fantastic friends, and I know that with some of them I will know them for a long time to come.

I only have 5 weeks left of my National Diploma course in Fine Art, and then i hope to study for degree and I have an interview for Falmouth college of arts in Cornwall which is absolutely gorgeous and I will be thrilled if I get in, I have my interview on Thursday and I’m very nervous but more excited than anything and just desperate to make a good impression and hoping I’ll be able to talk about my work.

I haven’t put my work on this site that I have been doing in and out of college only my fan art work really, mostly because my other work is much too big and I don’t have a digital camera, and also I’m a bit dubious of putting it onto the internet. Its mostly about the Natural Environment, looking at landscape and trying to get the feeling across from that place, and also exploring objects, the majority of my work is focussed on drawing and most of my final pieces are abstract paintings, and this is why I feel that Falmouth would be the best place to be its a relaxing environment and very laid back and I think that suits me down to the ground, Cornwall is a very beautiful and inspiring place and i fell very much at home there.

Has anyone else been to any interviews and would have any tips? I've nearly finished all my portfolio just a couple of sheets of mounting to complete and I’m just carrying on with my sketchbooks, I have a mock interview with both my friends and the tutors next week and I think I’m ready, just its so important to me to get in and I don’t want to risk that in any way.

I have my final show in 4 weeks and that is also very exciting and a very nice closure to my time there, I am not looking forward to saying goodbye to everyone but I am extremely excited about the future, I know it wont work out the way I expect, it always surprises me. I’m a great believer of fate and I think everything happens for a reason.
